Gear and derailleur close-up repair

What we do

Gears skipping, crunching, or refusing to shift? We fine-tune your derailleurs, adjust indexing, check limit screws, and replace cables if needed. The result: smooth, accurate gear changes every time.

We also check your derailleur hanger alignment — a bent hanger is one of the most common causes of poor shifting and is easily missed.

What's included

  • Indexing adjustment: Fine-tune cable tension for accurate shifting

  • Hanger alignment check: Straighten if bent (common after knocks)

Frequently asked questions

Why are my gears skipping?

Usually caused by cable stretch (very common on newer bikes), a worn chain, or a bent derailleur hanger. We'll diagnose the cause and fix it.

My bike won't shift into the highest/lowest gear

This is typically a limit screw issue — a quick adjustment that prevents the chain from going too far. We'll set these correctly as part of any gear tune.

How often should gears be adjusted?

Cables stretch naturally over time, especially on new bikes. A tune-up every 6–12 months keeps shifting crisp. More often if you ride in wet or muddy conditions.
