What we do
A safety check is a quick, structured inspection of your bike's safety-critical components. It's ideal before a big ride, a holiday, getting a bike out of the shed after winter, or if you've just bought a second-hand bike and want peace of mind.
We check everything that could affect your safety — brakes, tyres, wheels, steering, quick releases, and more. You'll get a clear summary of what's fine, what needs attention now, and what can wait.
What's checked
- Brakes: Pad condition, lever feel, cable/hose condition, stopping power
- Tyres: Pressure, tread depth, sidewall condition, embedded debris
- Wheels: True, spoke tension, quick release / thru-axle security
- Steering: Headset play, handlebar security, stem bolts
- Drivetrain: Chain wear, shifting function, pedal security
- Frame: Visual inspection for cracks, dents, and damage
- Accessories: Lights, reflectors, mudguards — checked if fitted

Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between a safety check and a Basic Service?
A safety check is an inspection — we check everything and tell you what needs doing. A Basic Service (£35) includes the check plus adjustments to brakes, gears, and lubrication. If your bike just needs a once-over, the safety check is the way to go.
Can you fix things on the spot if you find a problem?
Usually yes. If we find something that needs fixing, we'll quote you there and then. Most common issues can be sorted in the same visit.
